A Life of Art and Service
Pierre-Eugène Clairin was a French painter, illustrator, printmaker, and resistance fighter. Born in Cambrai, France, he studied in England before entering the École des beaux-arts de Paris in the atelier of Fernand Cormon. In 1929, he was awarded the Prix Abd-el-Tif, leading to a two-year stay at the villa Abd-el-Tif, which he extended through travels in Morocco and Southern Algeria.
