The Life and Artistic Journey of Andreas Bleeker
Born in Munich, Germany, Andreas Bleeker was the son of the sculptor Hermann Bleeker and the textile artist Hilde Bleeker-Kullmer. His formal artistic training took place at the Munich Academy, where he studied as a master student under Hermann Kaspar from 1953 to 1960. Throughout his career, Bleeker was an active member of the Munich Secession and the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK). His dedication to the local art scene was evidenced by his annual participation in the juried Great Munich Art Exhibition at the Haus der Kunst, a commitment he maintained from 1962 until 2011. In 1980, he was honored with the Seerosenpreis for visual arts from the City of Munich.
Artistic Style and Exhibitions
The work of Andreas Bleeker is characterized by a disciplined pictorial order and a delicate use of color. His aesthetic moved from a "magical" realism of isolated objects toward still lifes that emphasize the tension of objects within a spatial plane. His compositions utilize opaque and transparent, slightly modified color surfaces intended to invite contemplation. His paintings are held in both private and public collections, including the Bavarian State Painting Collections, Munich.
Bleeker's extensive exhibition history includes numerous showcases in Munich and beyond, such as:
