Artist Biography
Agustina Ros: Sculpting ethereal beauty from glass
Agustina Ros is a contemporary glass artist born in Misiones, Argentina, whose artistic journey began early on with her first encounter with art and technique at the atelier of her teacher. She pursued her studies at the University of the Argentine Social Museum in Buenos Aires, delving into drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking—disciplines that solidified her passion for visual arts and fueled her desire to explore new creative horizons. Recognizing the importance of grounding her artistic development in her homeland, Ros returned to Argentina and established a studio specializing in glassblowing, where she honed her craft under the mentorship of Ferran Collado, a renowned glazier who introduced her to the transformative power of fire—her element—and instilled in her a profound understanding of its role in shaping artistic expression. Her collaboration with Active Design Program’s Francisca Kweitel broadened her perspective on jewelry design and encouraged experimentation with innovative techniques. Further enriching her artistic education, Ros participated in courses led by Simone Crestani at the Courning Museum of Glass, immersing herself in collaborative projects that fostered creativity and honed her skills. Ros's work is characterized by a distinctive aesthetic—a quest for beauty rooted in contemplation and driven by an intuitive connection to nature. She approaches glassblowing as a dialogue between artist and material, allowing it to subtly transform her ideas into tangible forms. Her artistic process begins with the initial encounter with art and technique, serving as a bridge to realizing her visions. Glass has captivated Ros’s imagination with its infinite layers of translucency, mirroring the complexities of human experience. As she molds the glass, she accompanies its transformation—a delicate dance between heat and form—guided by an unwavering commitment to capturing ethereal beauty and conveying profound emotions. The fire, her element in nature, symbolizes not only the physical process but also Ros’s inner spirit—a force that understands and embodies her artistic essence. Her creations are more than mere objects; they are expressions of a singular worldview—a desire to explore the interplay between geometry and organic forms, reflecting the duality inherent in existence itself. Through meticulous craftsmanship and imaginative design, Ros seeks to elevate jewelry into artful statements that resonate with both visual appeal and intellectual depth. Her pieces stand as testament to her dedication to artistic excellence and her unwavering belief in the transformative potential of glass—a medium she considers a conduit for conveying beauty, emotion, and contemplation.- Notable Achievements: Featured artist at MAD Museum of Arts and Design; Selected for Homo Faber Guide.
