The Life and Artistic Practice of Peter Roehr
Born in Lębork, Poland, Peter Roehr was a German Pop Art minimalist artist whose brief but prolific career spanned several years. After his parents divorced, he moved from Leipzig to Frankfurt am Main. His early professional training included an apprenticeship as a producer for electronic signage in Frankfurt am Main, followed by studies at the Werkkunstschule in Wiesbaden from 1962 to 1966 under Vincent Weber. During his time in Frankfurt, he maintained close contact with artists Charlotte Posenenske and Thomas Bayrle. In 1967, Roehr and Paul Maenz organized the exhibition Serielle Formationen at the Studio Galerie of the Goethe University Frankfurt, featuring works by artists such as Donald Judd and Piero Manzoni. Roehr passed away in Frankfurt am Main in 1968.

Over a five-year period, he produced more than 600 works categorized into ten groups based on their materials. He described his process as assembling available things of the same kind—such as objects, photographs, letters, or sounds—to create what he termed montages. His work often focused on organizing identical elements without additive results. Notable examples of his experimentation with time and sound include:
