Jacques Delorge, also known as le chevalier de Lorge, was a French court painter born in Aix-en-Provence. His professional journey saw him become a member of both the Academy of Marseille and the Academy of Paris. A significant moment in his career occurred in 1771 when he was presented to the Dauphin by the Duke of Vauguyon. Following this encounter, he served as the painter to the Dauphin and the Dauphine, remaining in the service of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.
