While official paths offered him numerous posts within the government hierarchy, he declines them all. He retreats instead into the quietude of his studio. His life is not one of political maneuvering but of ink and paper. He moves through the world under various names—Ch’anggang, Ch’wi Ong, or Kyŏng'on—but his brushwork remains singular…
