hsu yung-hsu is a taiwanese ceramic sculptor born in kaohsiung, taiwan in 1955. he obtained his mfa at the graduate institute of applied arts at the tainan national university of the arts in 2007. hsu is known for his intuitive and tactile process of stacking, kneading, pressing, rolling, coiling, pinching, tearing and moulding white porcelain and black stoneware clays to create sculptural forms. his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including the taipei fine arts museum, and he has received recognition for his artistic vision and broad artistic vision. hsu's work is characterized by its interplay between the world and his perception, as well as tactile and algesic senses within the clay. he has been the subject of solo exhibitions, including 'yunghsu hsu: a world made light' at the kaohsiung museum of fine arts in 2019.
