Elizabeth Eleanor Siddal, often remembered as Lizzie, was a figure both captivating and tragic, inextricably linked to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood yet possessing an artistic spirit all her own. It was here, in 1849, that she caught the eye of Walter Deverell, an artist associated with the burgeoning Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Siddal quickly became a sought-after model, lending her likeness to works by William Holman Hunt and, most significantly, Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
