A Life in Color and Identity
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to parents from Puerto Rico, Juan Sánchez has emerged as a significant Nuyorican cultural figure. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of ethnic, racial, and national identity, often addressing the complexities of Puerto Rican life both on the island and within the United States. Through his work, Sánchez confronts political policies and social practices, specifically focusing on the obstacles faced by disadvantaged Puerto Ricans and the struggle for independence.
