The early years in Madrid Javier Clavo Gil began his life in Madrid, Spain, in 1918. His path through the world of art was shaped by the halls of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, a place he regarded as his true school. While he studied under Daniel Vázquez Díaz, much of his learning came from his own observations and hands-on practice. He moved to Valencia with his family during his youth, eventually holding his first individual exhibition
at the Vizcaño gallery in 1930. His development was not confined to a single medium. He worked through painting, sculpture, engraving, and fresco painting. His hands learned the weight of clay and the texture of oil on canvas.
