Growing up in a humble household, his early years were shaped by the rugged beauty of the South of France and the profound influence of his stepfather, Jules Sicard. As a gardener, Sicard instilled in the young Sabatier a deep-seated reverence for the natural
world, a passion that would later become the heartbeat of his entire oeuvre. Though he initially sought a path as a blacksmith, the pull of the brush proved irresistible. Guided by the mentorship of his brother-in-law, an amateur painter, Sabatier began to refine his vision, eventually finding formal training at the Beaux-Arts de Toulon while balancing the heavy demands of manual labor.
