The work of Lowrie Warrener underwent significant stylistic shifts. In the mid-1920s, his paintings embraced a flat-patterned, decorative approach. He described his own process during this time as creating an "abstract impression of color," where he chose colors he liked to fill space.
Beyond the canvas, Warrener explored the intersection of different art forms by working as a set designer for avant-garde theatre.
