Artistic Style and Evolution

Bartovský's work is characterized by a diverse evolution of style. His early paintings focused on urban motifs and landscapes, often exhibiting a sense of economy in expression and an interest in spatial relationships. During certain periods, his work moved toward imaginative cubism and explored the use of color to build spatial relations. His paintings from the 1940s are noted for their focus on interiors, urban scenes, or cafe views, utilizing a reduced line and a sparing color scale.
