The Life and Art of Adolf Helmberger
Born in St. Gilgen, Austria, Adolf Helmberger was a painter specializing in portraits and landscapes. He received his artistic training in Salzburg and at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Christian Griepenkerl and Alois Delug. Following the outbreak of the First World War, Helmberger served as a war painter for the k.u.k. His wartime experiences resulted in notable works such as Feldwache auf Cima Presana and Gebirgsbatterie auf der Ortlerspitze, both from 1916. In the years following the war, he primarily focused on creating impressionistic landscape paintings of the Salzkammergut region.
