Born in Paris on May 17, 1870, Dauchez came from a family of lawyers. However, he demonstrated an early aptitude for graphic arts, nurtured by his mother who recognized his talent. He received foundational training from Gaston Rodriguez beginning in 1885, focusing on essential observation and transcription skills.
