The story of Alexander Fraser is one deeply intertwined with the rugged and serene landscapes of his homeland. Born in Woodcockdale, near Linlithgow, Scotland, his early years were marked by a profound connection to the natural world. Fraser’s development was further refined through rigorous training at the life school of the Royal Scottish Academy. His ability to translate the atmosphere of the Scottish countryside onto canvas earned him significant recognition within the artistic community, eventually leading to his election as an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1858 and a full Academician in 1862.
