A small figure titled Sitting Induna by the Lesotho Artist Samuel Makoanyane (1909-1944). Like so many figures by Makoanyane he used clay which was enhanced by beads, small pieces of animal skin and wood. The spear this figure was supposed to hold is not present. Short Biography: Samuel Makoanyane was born in 1909 near Parys in the Free State. His family moved back to Lesotho in 1913. In Lesotho he had his own studio from which he produced the small figures. He passed away of Tuberculosis in 1944. He is seen as one of Lesotho
