Man
Thomas Tyler Potterfield, Jr., (1958-2014) was a man of many talents and a visible cyclist on Richmond’s city streets during his years as an architectural historian and historic preservationist. Potterfield, a senior planner in the Richmond Department of Planning and Development Review, was the project manager of Richmond’s planned Brown’s Island Dam Walk, which will put a span about 1,600 feet long from Brown’s Island to the foot of the Manchester climbing wall. The Dam Walk will be the first direct crossing of the James River in Richmond dedicated to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. It is a key element in the city’s Riverfront Plan to make the riverfront a more impressive attraction for the Richmond community.
