Rose Rolanda (1895 – 1970)
Rosa Rolanda (1895-1970) was a multidisciplinary American artist – dancer, photographer & painter. Known for colorful folkloric scenes, portraits of Mexican culture, and surrealist self-portraits influenced by Man Ray.
In his search for Mexican identity, Covarrubias investigated different aspects of his country’s culture. He wrote the books Mexico South:
