Frederick received his education at Wellington Road Academy, which laid the foundation for his future artistic endeavors. Goodall’s artistic journey commenced with an ambitious commission for Isambard Brunel: six watercolor paintings depicting the Rotherhithe Tunnel. His debut oil painting swiftly garnered a Society of Arts silver medal—a testament to his nascent talent and artistic promise. Frederick married Anne Thomson, daughter of engraver James Thomson, in 1846. Following Anne’s untimely passing in 1869, Goodall found solace in companionship with artist Alice May Tarry, whom he married in 1872.
