The Multidisciplinary Vision of Alfred Leslie
Alfred Leslie was an American painter, filmmaker, photographer, sculptor, illustrator, and director. He first achieved success as an Abstract Expressionist painter, but in the early 1960s, he transitioned toward realistic figurative paintings in grisaille. This shift was driven by his desire to mature as an artist and explore figurative ideas. Following a fire on October 17, 1966, which destroyed nearly all of his monochrome paintings, Leslie began to introduce color into his work.
