The artist uses everyday materials such as colourful fabric, helium balloons, balls, plastic bags and socks. Rada Boukova, born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1973, is a Bulgarian artist currently residing and working in Paris. Her artistic journey began with foundational training in applied arts and textile design, followed by intensive study in stage design at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia—a formative experience that instilled within her an unwavering fascination for capturing subtle shifts and transformations inherent in the fabric of daily existence. Between 1995 and 1997, she honed her craft as a set designer and costume creator for Bulgarian national theatre productions, immersing herself in collaborative projects that demanded meticulous attention to detail and visual storytelling. This period solidified her understanding of how artistic expression could communicate complex narratives within constrained spaces. In 1997, Boukova pursued further education at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, graduating with honors—a pivotal step toward establishing herself as a prominent figure in contemporary art.
