His formative years were defined by an immersion into the most vital artistic currents of the early twentieth century. At the Art Students League, Davey honed his technical skills, eventually studying under Charles W. Hawthorne, whose emphasis on observation and tonal harmony left an indelible mark on Davey’s palette. However, it was his association with Robert Henri that profoundly shaped his creative soul.
