Early Life and Career Eldren M. Bailey, an African American artist, was born in Flovilla, Georgia in 1903. He spent most of his life and career in Atlanta, Georgia, where he developed a unique style that would set him apart from other artists of his time. Like his father, a railroad worker, Bailey left school in the third grade and moved to Atlanta at the age of thirteen. He married Marjorie in the early 1940s and worked for the railroa
