Robert Wellmann was born in 1866 in Miercurea Sibiului, Romania. His path eventually led him to the Royal Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1889, he joined the class of Professor Gabriel Hackl, studying in the same academic environment as Arthur Coulin and Fritz Schullerus. This period in Munich was a defining chapter, placing him at the center of a significant European artistic tradition. His later years were spent in Paks, Hungary, where he passed away in 1946.
