Though perhaps not a household name today, Lafaye occupied a significant position within the artistic circles of his time, serving as a favored portraitist to the royal court and establishing himself as a master of stained glass—a testament to his versatility and dedication to both historical narrative and exquisite craftsmanship. Lafaye’s early artistic journey began not with formal schooling but with a practical decision: at fourteen, he left home to live with an uncle in Paris.
