Her journey as an artist began organically, fueled by childhood memories steeped in the melodies of nature – a formative influence that continues to permeate her distinctive style. Unlike many contemporary artists who prioritize human figures prominently, Smitha’s canvases predominantly depict animals, capturing their intricate beauty with meticulous detail and conveying a profound appreciation for the natural world. Her artistic evolution unfolded during the 2010s, marked by a shift towards addressing broader societal concerns. The devastating Nipah outbreak in Kerala served as inspiration for her work, prompting her to explore themes of vulnerability alongside the unpredictable forces of animal behavior.
