François Nicolas Martinet, a name perhaps less familiar than those of his contemporaries in 18th-century French art, nevertheless holds a profound and quietly significant place within the history of ornithological illustration. Born in Paris around 1731, Martinet’s journey wasn't one of grand artistic ambition initially; he began his career as an engineer and draftsman, skills honed within the meticulous framework of the Royal Workshops. Yet, it was through his engagement with the burgeoning field of natural history that he discovered his true calling – capturing the exquisite detail and vibrant beauty of birds in a way that transcended mere documentation.
His early life remains somewhat shrouded in obscurity, details scarce beyond his formal training. However, around 1756, Martinet transitioned into engraving for the King’s cabinet, a position that provided him with access to influential figures and projects within the scientific community. This shift marked a turning point, as he began dedicating himself increasingly to producing illustrations for books – specifically, those focused on the natural world. His son, Alexandre, would later assist him in this endeavor, continuing the legacy of meticulous detail and artistic observation.

Voor kunstwerken of reproducties die aan één zijde groter zijn dan 105 cm (ongeveer 41 inch), wordt de lijst als een losse set verzonden. Deze methode garandeert een veilige levering en voorkomt schade tijdens het transport.
Professionele montage vereist - dit is geen doe-het-zelfproduct.
De set moet worden gemonteerd en het canvas moet worden gespannen door een ervaren professionele lijstenmaker, met gebruik van houtlijm (niet inbegrepen), een doekspanter en klemmen om de sponningen recht te houden terwijl de lijm droogt. Onjuiste montage of een ongelijkmatige spanning op het canvas kan het kunstwerk permanent beschadigen en wordt niet gedekt door onze garantie.
Alle massief houten onderdelen zijn inbegrepen, nauwkeurig op maat gesneden voor montage.
Te monteren met de meegeleverde schroeven, plus houtlijm voor de hoekverbindingen, die niet wordt meegeleverd en door uw lijstenmaker moet worden aangeschaft.
Professioneel gereedschap is vereist en niet inbegrepen: een spanner voor canvas en klemmen om de latten recht te houden terwijl de lijm droogt.
Belangrijk:
De hoekverbindingen vereisen houtlijm, de latten moeten met lijmklemmen worden vastgehouden tot de lijm volledig is opgedroogd, en het spannen van het canvas op het samengestelde frame vereist een doekspanter. Geen van deze artikelen is inbegrepen in de set. Wij adviseren u om een ervaren professionele lijstenmaker te raadplegen voordat u deze maat bestelt.
