      Enrique Chagoya grew up in Mexico City, where the boundaries between art and daily life often blurred. His work has been included in major collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. These institutions hold works that reflect his ongoing interest in the friction between different cultures and the political shifts of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

      His career has been marked by several notable honors, including the Academy Award for Visual Arts from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1997 and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Award. Through his use of satire and irony, he continues to examine how history is recorded and how much of it is subject to change through the act of reinterpretation.
