Born in Auckland, New Zealand, his artistic journey was deeply intertwined with the natural rhythms of his homeland. His early education in Parnell, under the guidance of mentors such as John Weeks and R B Sibson, provided him with a technical foundation that would later serve his unique mission: to capture not just the likeness of birds, but the very essence of the environment they inhabit.
