Ballantine. This early exposure to the precision required for stained glass likely informed the accuracy of his draughtsmanship. Under the instruction of Robert Scott Lauder in Edinburgh, he refined this skill, eventually moving toward oil and watercolour to capture the specific light of the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands.
