Born into a family of painters, Ciceri trained with his great-uncle, Eugène Isabey, who was exploring landscapes in his work. During this period, Isabey and Ciceri shared living quarters in the Pigalle neighborhood in Paris, where they were both influenced by their fellow residents: Théodore Rousseau, Jules Dupré, Narcisse Diaz, Johan Barthold Jongkind, and Jean-François Millet.
