John William North, born in London in January 1842, was a British landscape painter and illustrator who achieved considerable renown during the Victorian era. His artistic vision centered on capturing the tranquil beauty of rural England—particularly the West Country—resulting in paintings that resonate with a timeless quality and offer glimpses into everyday life of the period.He died peacefully in Stamborough, Somerset, December 20th, 1924.- Early Life & Education: Little is known about North’s formative years beyond his birthplace. He pursued formal artistic training at Slade School of Fine Art in London, honing his skills under influential instructors and immersing himself in the burgeoning Impressionist movement.
