His formative years were spent honing his skills abroad, traversing France, Germany, and Belgium, absorbing influences from Romanticism and Impressionism alike. Dibdin’s artistic breakthrough arrived in 1845 when he published “A Guide to Watercolor Painting,” a seminal text that disseminated his techniques and championed the medium's expressive potential.
