Sir Augustus Wall Callcott, en berømt engelsk landskabsmaler, blev født den 20. februar 1779 i Kensington Gravel Pits, en landsby i Londons vestlige udkant. Hans tidlige liv var præget af en passion for musik, hvilket førte ham til at synge i koret i Westminster Abbey i flere år.
