Her early years were shaped by the loss of her father, a decorated Royal Army Veterinary
Corps officer who succumbed to wounds sustained during World War I, and a subsequent separation between her parents. This poignant beginning instilled in Ray a resilience and independence that would profoundly influence her approach to both life and art.
