Contemporary Minimalism

The project also showcases an interactive installation created in collaboration with Beatriz Cortez, another Los Angeles-based artist from El Salvador. Lastly, a number of drawings are displayed as part of the project. They form a small pencil drawing series inspired by Tseng Kwong Chi, who has been forgotten in the art world after his death from AIDS in 1990. The display is a tribute to the lives and works of artists who died as a result of AIDS and sheds light on their absence. The artist deconstructs the word ‘queer’ which for many is still a new and unfamiliar term.
