Joost de Pape (1618–1646): A Flemish Baroque Master Joost de Pape, also known as josse, joost or joducus de pape, was a flemish painter, draughtsman and engraver born in oudenaarde, belgium in 1618. He was registered as an apprentice in the antwerp guild of st luke in 1618/19. De pape is known for his paintings of religious and mythological subjects, such as ‘venus and adonis’ (1629).
