His practice became a rich exploration of illustration, theatre, sculpture, engraving, and television, allowing him to approach the concept of visual storytelling from a multitude of perspectives.
As his career progressed, Machado’s geographic movements mirrored his artistic expansion. After settling in Rio de Janeiro in 1966, he continued to intensify his creative activities before eventually making Paris his home in 1986. This transition to France introduced new layers of complexity to his work, as his urban scenes began to reflect the nuanced rhythms of Parisian life while maintaining a deep connection to his Brazilian roots.
