charles reutlinger, a german-french photographer, was born on february 25, 1816, in karlsruhe, germany. he discovered his passion for portraiture at a young age, which led him to explore the world of photography. in 1839, reutlinger began his journey as a daguerreotypist in stuttgart before moving to paris around 1850.establishing the reutlinger studio
in paris, charles reutlinger founded his first photographic studio, specializing in portraits of parisian personalities, particularly actresses. he was a member of the société française de photographie and won the first prize at the exposition universelle de 1867. his studio became one of the most prominent in paris, capturing the essence of the city's artistic and cultural scene.notable works and legacy
