ludovico teixeira
ludovico teixeira, also known as luís teixeira, was a portuguese cartographer and mathematician born in lisbon, portugal in 1564. he was the son of pero fernandes, a cartographer, and was examined by pedro nunes, the cosmographer in chief, in 1564. teixeira contributed to abraham ortelius's atlas theatrum orbis terrarum with a well-known early map of japan (iaponiae insulae descriptio). he also authored an important atlas of the colony…
